The FAR Mission
We design, produce and ship all our products from our studio in Hawkshaw, England. Our aim has always been to produce a luxury, affordable, sustainable candle with a serious scent to fill your home. We believe our candles shouldn’t be saved for special occasions – they should be an everyday luxury. We have answered some questions we often get asked about our products...
Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource that burns longer and cleaner than paraffin wax. It has a wonderful scent throw too. We add coconut wax as it enhances the finish and burn of our candles. Our coconut wax is derived from coconut oil that goes through a process of hydrogenation. The coconut wax does not smell of coconuts, it has a neutral, natural wax scent.
FAR candles contain our own unique blend of coconut wax and organic soy wax. We add ready mixed phlalate and paraben free fragrance oils and a cotton wick – absolutely nothing else. Our candles are not suitable to be used as a massage product as our fragrance oils are for candle use and may not be body safe.
We use a base oil solvent made from a renewable, eco-friendly source and combine this with our range of fine fragrance oils.
Our candles and fragrance oils are considered vegan. Our reed diffusers are not considered to be vegan.
All our candles contain fragrance oils, with the exception of our Lavender candle which contains an essential oil blend. The reason we favour fragrance oils is that they are better suited to candles and have a much stronger scent throw than essential oils. The flash point of essential oils is much lower than that of fragrance oils which means they tend to evaporate faster, with a reduced scent as they burn.
All our products are available in all 10 original scents and we usually carry a small stock of each of these. In addition, we aim to release limited edition scents twice a year (spring/summer and autumn/winter). Follow us on social media or sign up to our newsletter to hear about new limited edition scents as they are released.
Candles made from natural wax do not have the same scent throw as paraffin wax candles. We use a high percentage of fine fragrance oils in our products for a serious scent. Our candles and reed diffusers will scent a small to medium sized room. For larger rooms with high ceilings we recommend using 2 or more candles and/or reed diffusers.
Yes! They are 100% recyclable. We prefer to repurpose our jars and bottles after use, usually for flowers, cute succulents or cactus plants, although other uses include storage for cotton buds, crayons and other random stationary items! Candle jars can be easily cleaned in warm, soapy water, or if you wish to keep the label intact, simply heat the jar in the oven to remove any remaining wax and discard this, wiping away any excess with a paper towel.
Our aim is to keep packaging to an absolute minimum – less waste, less recycling, less landfill. For this reason we don’t box our candles. You can add a cotton hand-stamped gift bag to your order which costs an additional £1. Reed diffusers come in a cardboard tube to ensure the reeds are not damaged.
We aim to despatch all orders the same day or next day if they are received later in the day. Our orders are despatched via Royal Mail 2nd Class service. If you require your order more urgently, please get in touch and we will do our best to make this happen. For more details, visit our Delivery Information page.
We are happy to make any changes to your order before it is shipped – please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible and we will do our best to make any adjustments.
